At a mental, level he battled despair as he consulted one doctor after another, became dependant on medicines and later started experiencing ill-effects of the same. But today he leads a medicine-free, disease free life! Here’s his story of how he learnt and adopted the principles of natural living to gain health and confidence!

I struggled with psoriasis, a so-called incurable disease
In the year 1995, I was diagnosed with a chronic psoriasis disease and lived with it for almost the next 20 years. I had seen multiple doctors and therapists from the mainstream as well as different types of alternative medicines (Homeopathy, Ayurvedic, Acupuncture, Allopathy etc). Meanwhile, I went to the United States (in 1998) for 7 years and there I consulted word's best doctors for this but all in vain. Some of the top doctors told me point blank that there is no permanent cure for psoriasis in medical science. All one can do is to keep taking medicines to treat the symptoms. I was forced to be on medicines on a regular basis because if I stopped even for a week, my psoriasis symptoms would resurface and become so intense within a week that I couldn’t perform my day-to-day activities at home as well as in the office. With a regular intake of medicines, life was going on.
In 2001, during further tests, one more ailment got added to the kitty. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. The doctor started another medicine for it and made it very clear to me that this new medicine would continue for the rest of my life.
Ill-effects of psoriasis medicine
In 2014, I applied for term insurance for myself and the insurance company rejected my application on medical grounds. After enquiry, I came to know that my LFT (Liver Function Test) failed. I immediately consulted a doctor who told me that prolonged use of the medicine I was taking results in fatty liver and it will further damage if I don’t stop it. Now I was very depressed because if I stop this medicine even for a few days, my psoriasis would come back and if I keep taking this medicine then my liver would be gone. This dilemma was very stressful for me and my entire family.
I happened to join a naturopathy course
One of my co-workers in my company (Puneet Batra) used to conduct daily yoga classes in our office. I once casually discussed my situation with him, and he suggested me to consult Dr Salila Tewari. After trying so many things world over, I was not very hopeful. But I didn't have any other option and anything to loose, so reluctantly I checked with Dr Tewari. She suggested me to attend her course of 8 classes that explains complete naturopathy. I was lucky that she was about to start a new batch from the following week itself. I was still not sure that it could do much, but I started going to these classes religiously. During this course I learnt:
-
Our body is designed to stay healthy and has a self-healing ability.
-
We need to provide the right inputs to our body for it to heal i.e. – the right food, sufficient rest, required exposure to sunlight & regular exercise.
I chose to change my lifestyle
I started making changes in my lifestyle based on what Dr Tewari explained in the class. I did not even consult her in a 1:1 session. Some of the key changes I made were:
-
I completely stopped taking grains for a few months as I learnt that grains are complex in nature and hence are difficult to digest. In its healing phase, our body needs to be supported by eating easy to digest food only.
-
I stopped taking breakfast in the morning. Up to 12 noon, I would be only be taking liquids like green juices, vegetable juices and juices with vitamin C (amla, beetroot, lemon, etc). This helps the body to eliminate waste materials (toxins) effectively. As per the circadian rhythm, our body is in the elimination phase in the morning and needs to be supported by eating only easy to digest food.
-
My lunch and dinner timings changed, I started eating between 12 noon to 8:00 pm. And it was mostly very light food like sprouts, vegetables, etc.
-
I adopted a plant-based diet with no dairy & non-veg and strictly eliminated any kind of packaged food from my diet.
-
I became very regular with Yogasana.
-
I started some natural therapies for cleaning my body - Neti, Kunjal and Enema on a regular basis. Even now, I practice these therapies once in a while to keep my body clean and healthy.
Dr Tewari asked me to stop taking any medicine. I had my fear that it will reactivate the psoriasis problem, but I decided to follow the advice. In the first month, the psoriasis symptoms did show up but the intensity was very low. This made me very excited and I became much more disciplined in following the lifestyle changes.
Nature helped get rid of my ailments
It took me about 7-8 months of rigorous discipline, but I was 100% cured. This was in 2015; it's my fifth year running since I made lifestyle changes and stopped taking any medication. Not only psoriasis, but even my thyroid problem and fatty liver got cured. It is such an amazing way of life. I don't call it a cure anymore. It's the most natural way of living. Dr Tewari did not do anything. She just showed the right way of eating and living and it's the Mother Nature who really cured me.
I now know how to balance out & stay in health
For the initial 7-8 months of my healing journey, I was on a very strict dietary discipline. Now I am a bit more relaxed. I go to parties, I visit restaurants with family, but I know how to clean myself internally and detoxify my body to keep my immunity strong.
In my previous company (the world's largest reinsurance company), I was the only one who did not take a single SL (Sick Leave) for three years. In my present organization, since my joining, I have never applied for any medical leave to this date. This is a recorded testimony of my perfect health. My entire team knows this.
I am so thankful to God sent Dr Salila Tewari who gifted me this beautiful healthy life.
