Foods To Avoid For Healthy Lungs
Nov 28, 2024
Lungs are an organ of elimination. We inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, moment to moment. If your lungs do not function properly, your body doesn’t expel the excess toxic buildup.
There is a certain amount of metabolic toxins that our bodies produce each day – from the things we eat, from chemical odours in the environment, from stress, from lack of enough physical activity, and from poor posture. All the organs of elimination - including our lungs, intestines, kidneys, and skin work together to expel these toxins. The task of the organs of elimination is to remove the toxic air, fluids, and other waste matter. If these organs are inflamed, weakened, or blocked, then the toxins have a tendency to get stored in the body (rather than being eliminated), causing blockages.
Foods & Lifestyle That Affect Your Lung Health
Every food item that we consume produces metabolic waste. Certain foods produce more metabolic waste than others – we should educate ourselves about this to safeguard our immunity. Certain food combinations also weaken digestion.
Baked Products: A combination of sugar, refined flour, and dairy, as present in commercially baked products, cookies, pastries, etc., weakens our digestion and elimination organs. Consuming these often affects the body’s natural ability to eliminate toxins. The elimination organs also get inflamed and function at half their potential/natural capacity.
Processed Foods: Packaged foods loaded with chemical preservatives have a toxifying effect on our bodies. Even the so-called “healthy energy drinks” that are popularly advertised for children, contain harmful sugars like maltodextrin, corn syrup, liquid glucose, white sugar, fructose, etc. All these contribute to inflammation and disturbing our blood sugar.
Wrong Food Combinations: Consuming raw fruit along with pulses or heavy, cooked meals is not a good idea. Understanding the role of food combinations and how it affects our health is key to building strong immunity.
Sedentary Lifestyle: Excessive exposure to radiation, TV, and sedentary work depletes our energy and increases our toxic load. Exercise, and activities such as swimming, cycling, and dancing support lung health and boost their efficiency. They tone up our organs while improving blood circulation, metabolism, and the elimination of toxins.
Our daily choices and actions have a consistent impact on our health. Choose wisely. Stay active and eat healthily.
