August 9, 2018 - “Yes Priyanka! I have seen all your reports and you are positive for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)”. God, I felt so low and upset after hearing this from my doctor. I showered her with questions. “How do we treat it? Why is that I am having this problem? I have been so healthy always. I have a seven months old baby to look after, doctor. I feel terrible when I am not able to lift my baby in my arms”.

“Priyanka, Relax! At times it triggers in ladies after delivery and the same is in your case. I will put you on some medicines and let’s see if they work for you. If yes, then we will continue and if not then we will change the drugs. Be clear, that this is a life-long medicine and for the initial 3 months you will see no results at all. You might have the same pain. Also, nausea, dizziness, palpitations are some of its side effects”.

“What are the benefits then?” I questioned. The Arthritis will stop where it is and it will not spread, answered the doctor. I purchased the entire set of medicines that the doctor had prescribed.

In March 2017, I had attended the THAC (The Health Awareness Centre) workshop which had helped me understand the toxic build-up in the body and how our wrong lifestyle is responsible for our diseases and ill health. Also, that our body is powerful enough to deal with all the ailments, we only need to assist it in the right manner.

With this backdrop, when at night I sat down with those medicines, suddenly, the next thought was I cannot spoil my body further with these medicines and I kept them back. RA is a painful degenerative condition marked by inflammation in the joints that causes stiffness and pain. It is an inflammatory disorder affecting the joints including those in the hands and feet. In severe cases, it attacks the internal organs as well. In my case, there was severe inflammation and swelling in both my wrist and toes. Not only this, my wrist bones started deforming. I had to support my one hand with another for normal day-to-day tasks like brushing, lifting a glass of water, answering a mobile call, etc. And also I could not walk comfortably as there was severe pain in my toes.

The change began

I got in touch with THAC the next day. They asked me to mail my routine so as to help me. And I was lucky enough they were coming to Delhi in some time. I took an appointment with them. They guided me and asked me to follow certain things. They assured me that I will be fine. The only thing I was told to focus on is more rest. (While we sleep, the bodies healing power are working inside so as to maintain the balance.)

I started following the same routine which I used to follow prior to my pregnancy but was derailed because my baby needed all the attention. My baby was taken out in 7.5 months time in an emergency and the baby was hospitalized for initial 11 days because of low weight. I was asked to give him Kangaroo mother therapy daily which made me restless. I could not rest for the initial 4 months and this is probably when my health started deteriorating.

The lifestyle changes I adopted

  1. I stopped consuming all dairy products immediately.
  2. Started eating a whole lot of fruits till 12 noon.
  3. Morning and evening sun-soaking.
  4. Vegetable juice twice a day with a pinch of turmeric (Turmeric Curcumin is anti-inflammatory)
  5. Lemon shots thrice a day.
  6. No wheat and only rice.
  7. Fruits in the evening.
  8. I used to eat one raw garlic every morning for the initial 15 days.
  9. And most importantly, started to sleep for 6 hours at a stretch in night. I was also sleeping for 1 hour in the afternoon as well to make it a complete rest of seven to eight hours.

Within the next 3 months, my RA got cured. Not only my pain is gone now, but there is also no inflammation and swelling. Also, my wrist bones are back in shape. In the bargain, I lost 20 Kgs of weight as well.

Conclusion

I am a thyroid patient since the age of 25. But my health journey over the last one year has given me the vision of a disease-free life. Rheumatoid arthritis conquered, thyroid next!!

We fall for medicines because of our fear of disease but when we make a shift from fear to faith, we see instant changes. Our body has a unique potential to heal any condition from minor to severe. When our body is not able to detoxify it shows us the symptoms, it is then we should take care of our eating, resting habits, the entire lifestyle rather.

I am so grateful to THAC for helping me heal from RA and my husband who supported me throughout. A very special thanks to Ruby Mishra (a Natural Health enthusiast) who constantly mentored me to be on the path of wellness.
