Tomato Ketchup- no preservatives or added colours

Tomato ketchup is a common condiment most kids love to have with their snacks. Store-bought ketchup variants are loaded with preservatives, acidity regulators, emulsifiers etc. These are synthetic & harmful additions that most mothers wouldn’t want their kids to consume! So, here’s a recipe to make your own ketchup with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- Red tomatoes:3 big
- Onion:1 (optional)
- Red capsicum:1 small
- Raisins soaked:4 or 5
- Garlic cloves:3 to 4
- Roasted almond powder or cashew paste for thickening the sauce:2 tsp (optional)
- Rock salt and chilli powder to taste
Method
- Steam the veggies and garlic.
- Grind all ingredients together when cool.
- Sieve the liquid for a smoother texture.
- Add the salt and chilli powder.
- Bring it to heat again on a low flame and keep stirring till it reaches desired thickness (around 10 to 15 minutes).
- You can now add the nuts powder at this stage.
That’s it, your delicious sweet tomato sauce or ketchup is ready with no weird ingredients or sugar. Stays good in the fridge for 3 days or so.
Wellcure Tip:The same sauce can be modified into a pasta or pizza sauce by adding some dry Italian herbs.
