While it is very common to find peanuts as a snack in roasted or cooked form, having soaked peanuts in raw form helps to get the most out of its nutrition.

Try out this scrumptious raw peanut chat and serve it up at your next party.

Tasty, filling and healthy.

Ingredients

  • Raw peanuts: 1/3 cup
  • Rock salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Carrots : 2 tbsp(grated)
  • Cucumber: 2 tbsp (tiny cubes)
  • Onions: 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes: 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves: 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli: 1tsp (finely chopped)
  • Black salt: to taste
  • Cumin seeds: ¼ tsp (roasted and crushed)
  • Red chilli powder: ¼ tsp (optional)
  • Lime Juice: 1tbsp

Method

  • Soak peanuts in water with salt for four hours. (adding salt while soaking helps the peanuts absorb the salt and they taste very good)
  • Drain and rinse peanuts. Ensure all the water is drained.
  • Mix all the ingredients except rock salt.
  • Add rock salt just before serving.

Wellcure Tip:

  • It can be served with green chutney and sweet chutney.
  • Try variations by replacing lime juice with tamarind pulp or grated raw mango.

Eating guide:

  • Food group: peanuts (legumes)
  • Peanuts, technically belong to the legume family. However, nutritionally as well as for culinary purposes they are considered a nut! Like other nuts, peanuts are a good source of fibre and nutrition.
  • They could be combined with other food groups and can be consumed along with cooked meals as well!
