  • Cold-pressed peanut oil: 2 tbsp (optional)
  • Curry leaves: 2 sprigs
  • Red chilli powder: 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1 tbsp
  • Back pepper: 1 tbsp (coarsely crushed)
  • Rock salt: 2 tbsp

For Masala Peanuts Chat

  • Carrot: 1 small (grated)
  • Onion: 1 small (finely chopped)

  • Lime wedge: 1 (juiced)

Method

  • To prepare the spiced peanuts, rub the roasted peanuts in your hands or in a cloth to remove the skin.
  • Place the skinned peanuts in a kitchen towel and gently pound using a rolling pin or a pestle, to crush into halves.

  • Give it a quick stir, toss in the roasted peanut halves and stir on low flame for 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Allow cooling completely and store in an airtight container.
  • To prepare masala peanuts chat, take a handful of the spiced peanuts in a bowl. Add all the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • Serve immediately.

Eating Guide:

  • Food group: Legumes (Yes, peanuts belong to the legumes family, not nuts)
  • Enjoy as a snack or as a side dish with cooked meals
  • Incorporate peanuts on regular basis, and say bye-bye to refined oil.
