Cabbage Potato Caspicum Sabji - Oil-Free
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2 Servings

Cabbage is one of the most common vegetables. Easy to cut, cook and very flexible to use in any dish as a filler or a dish by itself. Mix with other vegetables and it envelopes the dish in its flavors.

Try this combination cooked with little tomato for the right amount of tang.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage: 1 cup (shredded into strips)
  • Potato: ½ cup (strips)
  • Capsicum: ¼ cup (cut into strips)
  • Tomato: 1/3 cup (chopped)
  • Green chili: 1 no (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves: 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds: ¼ tsp
  • Rock salt: to taste
  • Turmeric powder: ¼ tsp

Method

  • Heat a pan and add mustard seeds. When they splutter add chopped chilli and chopped tomatoes and sauté for a few minutes.
  • Add cabbage, potato, turmeric powder, and a little salt and sauté for 2 minutes and cover and cook until done.
  • Sprinkle little water if you find it sticking to the bottom of the vessel.
  • Add capsicum strips and sauté for two minutes. Taste and add more salt if needed.
  • Turn off the flame and cover and allow cooking in retained heat for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

Wellcure tip:

  • Adding capsicum after turning off the flame helps to retain its color and crunch. However, you can add it with all the vegetables and cook it if you prefer it that way.
  • This preparation brings out the real flavors and taste of vegetables if less salt is used.

Eating guide

  • Food group: Vegetables

  • It can be easily consumed during meals, combined with other food groups.
