Cabbage - this modest vegetable is not only easily available when in season, but it is also extremely versatile. From cooked dishes to salads, cabbage is used in many forms and lends a distinct flavour and/or texture each time. Here’s a quick recipe to juice cabbage and make the most of its health benefits by consuming it raw. Cabbage is rich in Vitamin K & C and is known to help aid digestion.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage: 1 (small size)
  • Lemon juice: as per taste
  • Black pepper: a pinch
  • Water: as required

Method

  • Wash and chop the cabbage finely.
  • Add chopped cabbage in a mixer, along with some water and blend it.
  • Blend at slow speed, till the water has a green tint with noticeable chunks of cabbage still floating around.
  • Add more water if required and blend again at high speed. You should still have a few small pieces of cabbage floating around.
  • Add lemon juice and black pepper, mix well.
  • Serve it fresh!

Wellcure Tips:

  • Do not churn the mixture at high speed for very long - you don't want to end up getting a paste or a puree!
  • You may strain the final mixture for kids to avoid fuss around cabbage pieces.
  • Best to use cabbage only when in season

Eating Guide:

  • Food Group: Vegetables (Raw)
  • Best to have cabbage juice as a mid-morning drink.
  • Makes up for a good option during illness as is light on the stomach and rich in nutrient.
